I think it depends on how you look at it. I think the world isn't free. It is held captive.
But we as Christians are not of the world.
Some people ,like me, who can get rather enticed into researching the progress of the NWO might say that it certainly isn't a free world. The control being instituted, and the encroachment on one's privacy is alarming to say the least. Its objective is to bend the will of "every man" to being subject to the will of one evil government in the pretence that by taking away our freedom we will have "peace and prosperity".
This is very different to the way God does things. He is a loving God who allows for free choice. Everything about him is light and in the open, not hidden beneath darkness, lies, corruption and subversion and the striving for domination. He is God and is sovereign anyway.
Many other people would rather not focus on such issues, either choosing complete denial cause it helps them sleep better, or because of their belief is that it's futile as we can't change what's already going to happen. Therefore why waste your time looking into it. And then there's everyone in between.
Optimally I believe that if you can strike a balance by, not becoming obsessed with global government and their agenda's, which would just instill fear in yourself and others, and simply keeping you eye's open, you would achieve the best result. As it says in Thessalonians 5:4-7 "But ye brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as athief. Ye are all the children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober."
So ignoring the signs of the times, largely spelled out but the increased control of Satan's ancient "new" world order, and restriction of freedom of "every man" would be wrong. But we are not "every man", we are children of God almighty!
So as the devil would love for people to believe, especially Christians, that we are in his control and not free, God is still and will always be sovereign. Therefore despite the overwhelming appearance of golbalism, if you put your faith in God you are free of the world, and subject only to a loving Father who will keep you, and hold you despite appearances. We do not have to conform to the world from fear what it may do to us if we don't.
As it says in Psalm 91:5-11
Psa 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
Psa 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Psa 91:7 A thousandshall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Psa 91:8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Psa 91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
We MUST put our faith in God, then He will free us of a bondage in the world!
