Quote :
1Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to know and realize that Christ is the Head of every man, the head of a woman is her husband, and the Head of Christ is God.
This headship is of a husband over a wife and not every man over every woman. When a woman marries she enters into a covenant of marriage that is a type and shadow of Christ and His Bride (the Church). Christ is Head of the Church just as a husband is head of a wife. This is a headship of sacrificial love and not domination.
Quote :
Eph 5:22 Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.
Eph 5:24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.....

Eph 5:28 Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
Eph 5:29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,
Eph 5:30 Because we are members (parts) of His body.
Until a woman marries she is only subject to the authorities that any other person is subject to. When she becomes a wife she submits to headship of her one husband that there will be order in the home. She is only subject to one husband and not every other male in the Church.

This is not a position of inferiority. In the verse above we see that the Head of Christ is God. Christ is not inferior to God.

Easy to submit to a loving, considerate man. Hard when he is dominating. What then?

Still called to submit .............. except in that which transgresses the Word of God.... something like prostitution or whatever.

Submission is a matter of government in the home. Honour the position of headship. It is a serious matter when a woman accepts a man's proposal of marriage. She must trust his heart towards her before entering into this covenant. I think marriage is entered into too lightly these days .... too quickly.... for reasons that are not deep enough.

If a man does not honour his wife then God does not answer his prayers. God is against such a man. I would not want to have God against me. A man who does not care about that is a man in unequal yoking with a Believer..... or very backslidden.

If he is beating her then I believe she is to get away. We are called to peace. Separation from physical abuse it sometimes vital. Women have sometimes been advised by pastors to stick it out and love their husbands to the Lord...... and they have come to great harm..... or even died. There is more of this kind of thing going on than most people realise. Women in this kind of situation are usually very vulnerable ...... . with few options.... and so abuse can continue and escalate for years. The children are the victims too. The longer it goes on the harder it becomes to break away because of the psychological damage as well. Such women need a lot of TLC and encouragement. It can be very frightening for them to make a psotive change.... especially when children have to be taken care of too.
