A woman is in submission to one husband. He is the head of the home so that there is order in the home.

Outside of marriage there is no male headship beyond the normal authorities placed over all of mankind.

Submission of the wife to a husband in the home is a matter of governemnt and not superior over inferior. Biblically male is not given to govern female outside of the home. Male and female in marriage are one; not more than half and less than half making one.

There is a cultural acceptance that men are of more value. At least they think they are. That sounds bad. Don't mean for it to be. Just Newborn is right. Don't see this equality in attitudes around, even in most Church life. But it helps to set the record straight in my heart anyway. It was as if God was subtly against me in a way.

Glad. Discovering this has helped me too. I also had a subtle feeing God was not as much for me as He was for men.

Newborn, how can we know we are precious to God? What value did He put on you? He died for you. There is no higher value. And no man has any higher value than that... even those who think that they do.

When Jesus was resurrected from the dead, who did He appear to first? In a chauvinistic world it must be a man, must it not? But He first appeared to a woman... Mary Magdalene. He gave her the most precious news in all of history first and told her to go tell. That is why she is sometimes called the Apostle to the Apostles.
Quote :
Joh 20:10 Then the disciples went back again to their homes (lodging places).
Joh 20:11 But Mary remained standing outside the tomb sobbing. As she wept, she stooped down [and looked] into the tomb.
Joh 20:12 And she saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
Joh 20:13 And they said to her, Woman, why are you sobbing? She told them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.
Joh 20:14 On saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing [there], but she did not know (recognize) that it was Jesus.
Joh 20:15 Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you crying [so]? For Whom are you looking? Supposing that it was the gardener, she replied, Sir, if you carried Him away from here, tell me where you have put Him and I will take Him away.
Joh 20:16 Jesus said to her, Mary! Turning around she said to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni!--which means Teacher or Master.
Joh 20:17 Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me [do not hold Me], for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brethren and tell them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.
Joh 20:18 Away came Mary Magdalene, bringing the disciples news (word) that she had seen the Lord and that He had said these things to her.
When you pray do you need to pray through a man? Or does God invite you directly to pray to Him? No man ia a mediator between you and God except Jesus Christ and that is the same for all mankind.... no matter the gender.

When sin entered the world then this distress between the genders entered the world. It was not so from the beginning. Eve had no doubts about her value, but women are made to doubt their value all the time in large and little ways. It is the product of sin. Chauvinism is the product of sin. God is not a chauvinist. He made two genders to interact together.... each with different strengths... each with the great commission. The lording over women by men is not from God at all.

Do you want to do the job of a man? I do not. Can a man do the job of a woman? Most certainly not! He fails miserably when he tries. We are made different for a purpose ... and one purpose is not superior to the other... no matter what some men believe. It is what God says about us that is important. The desire to dominate does not come from Him. Where you see a man dishonouring a woman then you can know in your heart he is not speaking from God but from the sin nature. When you see a man determined to dominate any woman - including his wife - then you can know it is the sin nature.

You are valuable and precious. Jesus died for you and He wants to commune with you. He finds you delightful just as you are. Do not let any man spoil that.

+1 QV

Not all men wish to dominate, Newborm. I say this as encouragement.

You are defined by God, not man.
